Have some free time on your hands and wondering what you could do to make a difference in someone’s life? Ever thought about working with horses and individuals with special needs but do not have any experience with either, just the desire to help? If you answered yes to these questions, Mounted Eagles is looking for volunteers and volunteering with us might be just what you are looking for. We train our volunteers, so you do not need to have the experience! Our volunteers are placed in positions where they feel most comfortable with the horses and/or the individuals participating in our program. We need volunteers who are dependable and able to commit to a regular schedule that works for them and the program. Mounted Eagles’ volunteers and horses become some of the most stable ‘fixtures’ in the lives of our participants so it is important that they be able to depend on us. Our lesson days are Tuesday, 10:30-3:00 – Wednesday, 1:30-6:00 – Thursday, 3:30-8:00. We currently have volunteer openings on each of these days. Our riding schedule includes 38 lesson weeks per year, so don’t be worried if you are not able to commit to coming every week. We take breaks and are also willing to work with your schedule.
If you cannot volunteer on days that we have program activities, perhaps you would be interested in committing to a few hours a week to drop by the barn and spend some ‘enrichment’ time with our horses, just playing in the arena with them, taking them for a walk around the grounds, spending some special time with them. No riding, just visiting and giving them some one-on-one attention. To perform this type of volunteering you would need to have some horse experience. Enrichment activities would be performed on days we do not have program riding, Monday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
If you would rather volunteer behind the scenes, then you could help us out in a volunteer capacity by being involved in fund raising events, Public Relation assignments or by joining our Board of Directors.
Complete the Volunteer Application under the “get involved” tab. Our Volunteer Records Manager will contact you within two days to discuss your interest and set up an orientation session. You are invited to stop in at the barn on any of our lesson days to observe what we do and how our program works. Just give Aggie a call at 218-568-3968 and we will set it up.
Volunteering for Mounted Eagles could become an experience you will never forget
