Monday we held our first community Horse Camp! It was an awesome experience for our participants. They learned about grooming tools and put them to pamper each of their horses. Nikki our Center Manager/PATH CTRI shared hoof care and assted in finding heart rate and gut sounds on Pine, one of our program horses. They even got to have a close look at a couple of teeth that Pine lost recently. Participants also learned that horses are measured in hands with one hand being equivalent to 4 inches. They measured themselves with a special measuring stick. After getting to know their horses participants led their horses through an obstacle course then took a break for lunch. Followed by horseshoe crafts, ranch hand obstacle course and learning horse behavior. The day ended with returning the horses to the pasture. It was a wonderful day.
