Mounted Eagles is proud to partner with The Pohl Children’s Foundation to provide therapeutic, developmental and educational equine-assisted activities to children who have lost a parent or sibling and/or children with life threatening illnesses and their siblings. This program is called Forever Horses.
We are confident that their experience in working with horses in a therapeutic setting will carry over into the lives of the children and families who are faced with challenges related to living with grief and illness.
The kindhearted horses and supportive volunteers of Mounted Eagles look forward to being a partner with the Pohl Children’s Foundation and the families they serve. Equine activities may help those who are grieving rebuild trust, awaken opportunity, and balance emotions. Change occurs as bonding with the horse becomes their therapeutic emotional escape.
Working alongside a horse, in spite of our fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful insight when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life. The horse is the magic piece that becomes the “change agent.”
By using horses for petting, grooming, painting, games and music, children will have an understanding friend who will listen to their sadness, anger and grief.
The Pohl Children’s Foundation and Mounted Eagles have been awarded a collaborative grant from Sourcewell to fund Forever Horses.
