It is with great sadness, Mounted Eagles’ Board of Directors announces the passing of its founder Susie Baillif, on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023. The Board agreed unanimously, with the blessings of the Baillif family, to continue Susie’s commitment to her lifelong passion of providing therapeutic horsemanship for people with disabilities.
We will be temporarily suspending our riding schedule so we may take time to honor Susie and mourn this tremendous loss. We will resume our normal riding schedule on March 7th, 2023. Please be sure to check your individual schedules if you ride every other week to make sure you return on the appropriate day.
Susie’s Celebration of Life will be held, February 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Living Word North in Brainerd, MN with a gathering of friends and family beginning at noon and a reception to follow. If you can attend, feel free to wear your Mounted Eagles clothing in honor of Susie. https://www.nelson-doran.com/obituary/Susie-Baillif#obituary
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mounted Eagles Therapeutic Horsemanship. Donations can be made through the website at www.mountedeagles.org or via US Mail P.O. Box 566 Nisswa, MN 56468. You may also donate via Venmo using the QR code below.
Mounted Eagles Board of Directors will host a Tribute to Susie’s Life on Thursday, February 16th, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Spirit Horse Center, in Brainerd. Volunteers and program participants (past and present), SHC staff and boarders and friends are encouraged to attend. There will be a time for sharing your personal memories of Susie and how she affected your life at 5pm.
Susie’s love for God and tremendous faith was the foundation for her being, so much that she based the programs name, Mounded Eagles on the Bible verse, “they shall mount up with wings like eagles…” Isaiah 40:31.
God bless you Susie, you have touched so many lives and you will be deeply missed. We are getting thru this most difficult time by leaning on the advice Susie most frequently gave: “One Day At A Time”, “God’s Got This” and “All Is Well”
