1st Quarter 2022 Volunteer Training was held on Wednesday, March 23rd. We had an awesome turnout where all 17 of our barn volunteers were present. It was a great training session. Susie presented proper mounting and dismounting from the block techniques and all volunteers had an opportunity to practice. Following the training in the arena, we gathered in the mezzanine at SHC for review of our Emergency Procedures. Susie went over each procedure for Emergency in the arena and Inclement Weather situations.
Volunteers who have been designated as “Proficient” in all 5 Steps of our Training program were recognized and awarded their ‘green badges’. This is a new training process we have implemented to ensure that all volunteers are trained adequately in each step and can be called upon by other volunteers to help and/or answer questions they might have about how to handle a specific process or incident. The goal is for ALL VOLUNTEERS to become proficient/cross trained in each of the 5 Steps, Grooming, Tacking, Leading, Sidewalking and Equicizer Applications. Those receiving their “Green Badges” at the March training were Amber Hidde, Gladys Behymer, Mary Fogle, Nick Patterson, Sandy Zugschwert, and Tina Yorek. Congratulations and Thank You!
Next Quarterly Training is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22, 2022, 6:00 at Spirit Horse Center in the Mezzanine. The topic is Connecting Effectively with our Riders and the presenter is Jessica Wales PAES Lab Teacher, Brainerd High School. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
