Natasha Schreifels is a cheerful 26 year old young lady who has been riding with Mounted Eagles for three years. She loves horseback riding and finds that it takes a lot of concentra- tion. Riding a horse can also be relaxing when you can feel the horse’s walking motion. Natasha arrives for her lesson and says hello to the volunteers. She always seems to have a smile on her face and is excited to ride. When it is time to start her riding lesson, she puts on her riding helmet and goes to the mounting block. Natasha’s riding partner is a horse named Wind Dancer. She likes Wind Dancer because he is such a good horse. He can also be very funny and you just never know what to expect from him. Natasha focuses to make sure she is holding the reins correctly as she steers Wind Dancer around the arena. Once they are warmed up, Natasha loves to move Wind Dancer into a trot. After riding, Natasha helps to untack and groom Wind Dancer. Grooming time is when you can hear laughing as Wind Dancer, up to his old tricks, likes to dump his grooming bucket!
Natasha and Wind Dancer make a very good riding team. In October, Natasha and Wind Dancer competed in the annual Mounted Eagles Participant Horse Show and proved just what a good riding team they are when they took first place in the barrels event! Natasha shares a house in Brainerd with her friends Jessie, Erica and Colleen who are also Mounted Eagles’ riders. They all love to host theme parties and one of their favorites was their Hawaiian party. When she is not working, Natasha loves to go swimming, bowling and spend- ing time with her boyfriend. In the summer she really likes to go fishing with her Dad who lives with her Mom in Elk River. Natasha also takes care of her cat who is named Dolly. Recently she learned how to use a loom and is in the process of making herself a hat to help keep warm over the winter. While she readily admits that she doesn’t like to cook, she sure does love to eat lasagna. She also likes to read and is currently reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.
Natasha, we look forward to seeing your bright smile as you continue to improve your riding skills at Mounted Eagles. Congratulations on being selected as the Mounted Eagles Rider of the 4th Quarter!
