I wanted to let you all know that it is with great regret that we are going to have to cancel the Hoofin It trail ride this year. The storm we had a couple of weeks ago not only revamped the landscape around our home it also destroyed the trails. We are very grateful that no major damage was done to our home and out buildings and especially that no one was hurt. However, 90% of our great trails are impassable and there is no way that we could get them all safely cleared, mowed and back in shape by the end of September. My husband and some family members have begun working on clearing them but I can’t ask them to put every spar moment into trying to get them passable by the 27th. They would have to rush and work long hours every day in order to try to get them somewhat passable. Not a safe way to do it. We will just have to forego the event this year.
We appreciate everyone’s past participation and want you to plan to join us next September 2017 when we will resume with the event. So mark your calendars for the last weekend in September 2017 and plan to be back with us then. FYI so you can plan better, we will no longer be requiring Coggins Test on horses in order for them to participate in the ride. So spread the word and maybe we can grow our attendance! Also are some of you interested in adding a ‘trail obstacle competition’ to the weekend. We would set up obstacle courses in the field and have a fun/friendly competition. Look forward to receiving your input on this.
Any donation you might want to make to our program to offset the loss of revenues from the Hoofin It Event will be greatly appreciated. You can mail them to me at Mounted Eagles, 6504 59th Ave SW, Motley MN 56466
Hope the rest of your summer and your fall are full of happy trails!
